Porsche's Carrera GT supercar 918 Spyder Concept

Porsche's Carrera GT 918 Spyder

Porsche Carrera GT supercar has now been out of production for a few years, and their numbers were rapidly diminishing as a tuner and poorly talented drivers up to mischief. At this year's Geneva Motor Show Porsche 918 Spyder, is planning a staged concept that seeks to replace, and although it does not share much in common with the previous supercar, it builds up the ghost with a big dose of modern technology and style.
Powered by a 3.4-liter V-8 engine and hybrid drive, could the 918 Spyder Concept preview a new super sports car from the company. We do not expect it for a year or two earlier than min than 9,200 rpm, 500 hp and 78-mpg efficiency are certainly proving to be difficult to make in production.

Performance is not hampered by the hybrid drive, but: 3.2 seconds to 62 mph, 198 miles an hour top speed and a promised Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time of under 7:30 - faster than the Carrera GT that preceded it. Electric motors on the front and rear make 218 hp to the mix.

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox PDK unit, sent over the front wheels are driven by a fixed ratio.
Driver lucky to hop behind the wheel of four driving modes, including e-Drive, which maximizes efficiency by electric power only select up to 16 miles. Hybrid mode uses both systems in combination to provide a efficienct to drive around the city. Sports hybrid mode adds some spunk to the system, with torque vectoring to improve the car's dynamics. Finally, there's Race-mode hybrid, which consists of all stops and maximizes the performance of both systems. The hybrid system is a push-to-pass system in Hybrid Race mode, thereby increasing the power to overtake.

A high-tech road made of light materials will be complemented by the latest Porsche interior design and features, the car is, in fact, after a production path, despite its current concept-car-directed status.
Two more hybrids will join the Porsche 918 Spyder on the stand in Geneva, including the Cayenne Hybrid, and the 911 GT3 R hybrid race car that uses an F1-derived kinetic KERS hybrid system.
